Hanford pair accused of sexual assault on child

After being sexually assaulted repeatedly by two Hanford residents, a 7-year-old child may breathe a sigh of relief after the Kings County Sheriff's Department arrested two suspects in the case last week.

Jose Luis Guzman Ramirez, 21, and Samuel Victorino Ramirez, 19, were both arrested Friday at an undisclosed location on suspicion of lewd acts with a child, sodomy and continuous sexual abuse.

Few details are available in the case, due to the victim's status as a minor, though the Kings County Sheriff's Department did specify that the reported acts of sexual abuse occurred over several months.

Both suspects are being held separately at the Kings County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

The reporter can be reached at 583-2425.

From the outside looking in

It would have been really easy for me to wrap up my week of training at Cobra Kai iN las Vegas by writing something funny about the whole experience. Or I could have been more serious and technical and talk about all the training and how it’s going to prepare me for my future in [...]

The life of a drug rep

Who wants to be a journalist? Let’s see, the perks -  A simple life, brotherhood with the downtrodden, the sure knowledge that you’ll be eating Top Ramen for dinner. The downsides - Job insecurity, increasing popular dislike of words printed on a page, the desperate search for several compelling stories each day. Now, for point of comparison: The [...]

The world ends with me

I’ve often been accused of a crime called “exaggeration.” At which point, I usually respond with, “No, sir, you are clearly mistaken. Now, if you’ll excuse me, that’s the President on the other line, and I must attend to matters of national security” before tearing off my shirt and flying into the sky. I must [...]

No detours in the game plan

What kind of road trip doesn’t have some hick ups. I wasn’t exactly expecting a perfect trip on Friday, as Ulysses Gomez, Brandon Thompson and I headed off to Phoenix to compete in a Desert Quest grappling tournament on Saturday. To avoid too much fatigue, I didn’t do any training on Friday. Instead, Gomez and I rested [...]
